Privacy & cookie notice
Last updated: July 2026
Dataplane (Pty) Ltd ("Dataplane", "we") respects your privacy. This notice explains what we collect on this website, why, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the requirements of South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, for visitors in the EU/UK, the GDPR.
What we collect
- Contact form submissions — name, email address, company and your message, together with the page you submitted from and, where present, the campaign parameters that brought you to our site (see "Attribution cookie" below). We use this to respond to your enquiry and to understand which marketing works. Legal basis: legitimate interest in responding to enquiries you initiate.
- Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device). Analytics data is pseudonymous and is not used to identify you.
- Advertising measurement — if you arrive via one of our ads, Google Ads conversion measurement tells us the ad worked.
Cookies we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
dp_attr | First-party attribution: remembers the campaign, source and landing page that brought you here, so that if you choose to contact us we know which marketing to credit. Used for no other purpose. | 90 days |
dp_consent | Remembers your cookie choice (EU/UK visitors). | 180 days |
_ga and related | Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement. | Up to 2 years |
Your choices
Visitors in the EU/UK are asked for consent before any analytics or advertising cookies are set, and can decline. Visitors elsewhere, including South Africa, can opt out of analytics at any time using Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site in your browser — the site works fully without them.
Where your data goes
Form submissions are stored in our own database (hosted on Cloudflare) and emailed to us via Brevo, our email provider. Analytics data is processed by Google. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone except the processors named here.
Retention and your rights
We keep enquiry records for as long as needed to serve you as a prospective or actual client. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing daniel@dataplane.co. If you believe we have mishandled your information, you may lodge a complaint with the South African Information Regulator.
Access to information (PAIA)
Our manual in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) is available on request from daniel@dataplane.co.
